Chipaota, Peru: Piassaba Palm Fiber

  • Preserved 9,000 acres of rainforest in Peru
  • Created a community-owned business for 40 families
  • Forest threat was illegal and unsustainable harvesting technique

Sani Isla, Ecuador : Kichwa Handicrafts 

  • Helping women create a sustainable income source from non-timber forest materials
  • Creating a project model with Ecuadorian partner to make these projects scalable and replicable

Pampa Hermosa, Peru: Tourism

  • Creating infrastructure for ecotourism in a highly biodiverse cloudforest.  Temporary hostel in place. Plans for 2012 include a hostel and an ongoing collaboration with Architects Without Borders for a future ecolodge.
