Every year on June 22, people around the world unite with a shared purpose—to protect one of Earth's most extraordinary ecosystems. This year marked an especially meaningful milestone as we celebrated the 10th anniversary of World Rainforest Day, bringing together supporters across continents to reaffirm our commitment to rainforest conservation.

Created and convened by Rainforest Partnership in 2017, World Rainforest Day has grown into a truly global movement. What began as a single day of awareness has evolved into a year-round call to action that inspires individuals, organizations, educators, students, conservationists, and communities to work together in protecting the world's rainforests.

This year's celebration reached participants from Costa Rica, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Australia, Colombia, Europe, and many other regions, demonstrating that protecting rainforests is a shared global responsibility that transcends borders and cultures.

Why Rainforests Matter

Rainforests are among the most valuable ecosystems on our planet. They regulate Earth's climate, provide habitat for countless species, support Indigenous peoples and local communities, and sustain natural systems that benefit everyone.

Yet these irreplaceable forests continue to face unprecedented challenges. Deforestation, unsustainable development, and the accelerating impacts of climate change threaten biodiversity and the livelihoods of millions who depend on healthy forests.

Protecting rainforests is about far more than preserving beautiful landscapes. It is an investment in climate resilience, clean water, biodiversity, and a healthier future for generations to come.

Celebrating a Decade of Global Impact

The 10th anniversary of World Rainforest Day was a celebration not only of how far the movement has come, but also of the growing network of people who continue to make conservation possible.

Communities around the world hosted educational events, environmental discussions, volunteer activities, and awareness campaigns that encouraged people to learn about rainforest protection and discover ways they can contribute. These collective efforts demonstrate an important truth: lasting conservation happens when local leadership and global collaboration come together.

Introducing an Exciting New Partnership

This year also marks the beginning of an exciting new partnership.

Rainforest Partnership is proud to serve as a launch partner with Opari, a new charitable giving platform designed to help people support causes they care about while staying connected to the impact of their generosity over time.

We are honored that Rainforest Partnership has been selected as Opari's inaugural launch campaign. To help maximize community support, Opari has committed to matching the first $2,500 donated through the platform.

Matching gifts provide an incredible opportunity for every donor to amplify their impact and help conservation efforts reach even further.

Our 2026 Campaign Goal

As part of this year's World Rainforest Day celebration, we have launched a campaign with an ambitious goal of raising $20,000.
Find out more at this link.

These funds will directly support:

  • Rainforest conservation initiatives
  • Scientific research
  • Environmental education
  • Community-led protection efforts
  • Sustainable conservation programs

In addition, we are raising funds for a special initiative benefiting youth living along Ecuador's Rio Napo.

The special campaign will help provide a motorized canoe and life vests to transport 40 students, enabling them to attend classes five days a week at a newly established Youth Center. Access to education strengthens local communities and empowers the next generation of environmental leaders who will help steward rainforest ecosystems for years to come.

Every Gift Creates Lasting Change

Whether large or small, every contribution helps expand conservation efforts where they are needed most.

By participating through Opari, supporters become more than donors. They become part of an engaged conservation community where they can follow campaign progress, receive updates from Rainforest Partnership, and participate in future initiatives dedicated to protecting the world's rainforests.

Together, we can ensure that World Rainforest Day remains more than an annual celebration—it becomes a catalyst for meaningful action every day of the year.

The challenges facing our forests are significant, but so is the collective power of people who believe they are worth protecting.

As we celebrate ten years of World Rainforest Day, we invite you to help write the next chapter of this global movement. Your support fuels conservation, strengthens communities, and helps preserve some of Earth's most vital ecosystems for generations to come.
